In celebration of Vincent Van Gogh’s  spectacular floral paintings, Newby Teas has carefully developed three special fine tea blends with teas and infusions that truly embody Van Gogh’s iconic masterpieces.

Newby Teas and Van Gogh Museum’s exclusive tea collection

Celebrating Van Gogh’s life and art, Newby Teas have created a bespoke collection of fine loose-tea blends, infusing tea leaves with floral tisanes.

We can’t think of a more inspiring alliance than one between the world’s most awarded luxury tea brand, and the museum dedicated to one of history’s most renowned artists to craft a stimulating experience for both mind and body.

We’ve chosen a few of our favourites of Vincent’s vibrant flower paintings in the Van Gogh Museum collection to adorn the caddies for our delectable Van Gogh Teas, making them the perfect luxury treat for anybody who loves fine art and premium tea with a fragrant twist.

Newby Teas Van Gogh Collection is exclusively available on our website and at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, home to the world’s largest collection of works by the artist.

The Vincent Van Gogh tea collection

Each tea caddy features an  iconic Van Gogh masterpiece, creating a keepsake for any tea lover or admirer of the great artist. This one of a kind collection comprises  the Sunflower Dew, Earl Grey and Almond Calm tea blends.

The delicate tea leaves used in our Van Gogh selection are hand-picked within the first flushes of growth to provide perfect levels of rejuvenation for busy days, while the addition of floral tisanes makes them ideal for special occasions. All our caddies are recyclable and reusable.

Vincent Van Gogh Sunflowers painting

  • Vincent Van Gogh Sunflowers

Our Sunflower Dew contains golden sunflower petals that enhance the flavor of green tea leaves with a delicate floral aroma, while jasmine blossoms leave a sweet aromatic aftertaste. This blend comes in a caddy embellished with Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, a work that is a symphony of golds and yellows. Exploration of these sunshine tones evidently fascinated the artist, as he returned to the flowers again and again during the years 1888-89 to experiment with colour and texture, creating multiple iterations of the motif in painting. Drink it before visiting the Vincent Van Gogh Immersive Exhibition to feel inspired.

Vincent Van Gogh Irises painting

  • Vincent Van Gogh Irises

This caddy showcases the powerful blue and violet pigments of Van Gogh’s Irises, a piece that is striking for the artist’s use of jarring, contrasting hues. This work defied artistic conventions to please the eye by with a harmonious balance of tones, and instead brilliant colours assail our attention. Our full-bodied Earl Grey Black Tea contains blue cornflower petals, adding a subtle sweetness that subdues the robustness of the black tea leaves. Complimented by the mellow malt and crisp citrus tinge of bergamot oil, this caddy is a great addition to your morning tea ritual.

Van Gogh Almond Blossom painting

  • Vincent Van Gogh Almond Blossoms

The Almond Calm blend combines almonds and vanilla hints that add sweet notes to its full-bodied black tea taste. Crushed almonds add a slightly-toasted nuttiness. Van Gogh borrowed his subject of Almond Blossom against a deep turquoise sky from Japanese prints which were becoming popular in France at the end of the 19th century. Flowering in early spring, almond is symbolic of new life. Van Gogh incorporates the bold outlines typical of Japanese art with his signature experimentation with colour.  This caddy is an ideal gift for the Van Gogh admirers and tea experts.

How to brew our Vincent Van Gogh Teas

Brewing the perfect cup is an art. To best enjoy our Van Gogh teas, be sure to use fresh and filtered water with two grams or one teaspoon of tea per cup. For our Almond Calm or Earl Grey blends, boil water to 100°C for three to five minutes. For the Sunflower tea, heat the water at 80°C for two to three minutes.

Afternoon Tea is a tradition that was introduced in England during the 1800’s by the Duchess of Bedford, who ate fashionably late and needed a little something to sustain her until dinner.

Afternoon tea is served at around 4pm and consists of cakes, sandwiches, scones and the finest caffeinated teas available. The Duchess made the tradition a lavish event, insisting that her guests attend in gowns.
